With over 37 years’ experience in this arena, Alanna provides counsel and direction on initiatives to combat fraud, waste and abuse in government programs. She has testified in numerous criminal trials involving complex white-collar crime and espionage matters in five Judicial Districts and has also testified on two occasions in the U.S. Congress.

She spent 10 years as Director of Special Investigations for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield’s national investigations.

Ms. Lavelle spent 25 years as a Special and Supervisory Special Agent for the Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI) where she managed criminal investigations of complex healthcare fraud involving kickbacks, false claims, medical identity theft, and money laundering. She also supervised a Violent Crimes Squad, a Domestic Terrorism Squad, and served as a Supervisor in the Undercover Safeguard Unit and the Crisis Management Unit at Quantico.

Ms. Lavelle is an Adjunct Professor at the University of New Haven in the Dr. Henry C Lee Criminal Forensics Department, teaching courses on Healthcare Fraud Analytics and Investigations and Human Trafficking Investigation courses.

Ms. Lavelle holds an MS in Conflict Management and a BA in International Relations from the University of Minnesota.  She is a Certified Clinical Coder and Accredited Healthcare Fraud Investigator, and fluent in Spanish.
