As health systems continue to consolidate and solutions become more complex, the demand for highly skilled PACS and Informatics Professional staff is ever more critical and rewarding. Imaging professionals are expected to provide access to any images anywhere at any time to optimize patient care. The term enterprise imaging has come about to reflect the shift from diagnostic radiology procedures to diverse medical imaging as dermatology, pathology, and surgery so all can be viewed together.

This course is developed to ensure that PACS Admins, Systems Analysts, Imaging Management, and IT Management are up to date with technology and the best practices throughout the industry.

Presented by experienced professionals, this program will cover the inner workings of Imaging Informatics from the traditional local PACS, to the eventual transition to an advanced Enterprise Imaging system.

The course consists of a combination of lectures, group discussions and hands-on practical exercises designed to educate and challenge all levels of students. The course begins with advanced DICOM, SQL Database fundamentals, PACS DB practical exercises, building EI team, XDS, lessons learned and continues through advanced system design and architecture, advanced PACS and Imaging Architecture, management, and storage planning and emerging trends such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). Hands-on exercises include database creation and SQL queries.

Participants will learn skills that can immediately be used to improve operations in their hospital environment. They will also bring issues and problems that will be used as topics for whiteboard discussions leading to suggestions for resolution.
