Is it important to attend the complete course for getting CE credits?
Yes, it is.

What is ASRT?
American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT) is the premier professional association of people working in medical imaging and radiation therapy.

What is the benefit of getting ASRT membership?
ASRT membership helps you advance your career, keep up with continuing education, advocate for your patients, network with colleagues and much more.

I live outside USA. Can I become ASRT member? If Yes, why and how?
Yes, members who are not registered with the ARRT and live outside the United States can become ASRT members. For more details, i.e. why and how to become International ASRT member, check here: HTTPS://WWW.ASRT.ORG/MEMBERSHIP/JOIN-ASRT/MEMBERSHIP-CATEGORIES/INTERNATIONAL

I am not a member of ASRT, so how this course or CE credits will benefit me?
If you’re not ASRT member, the ASRT approved Category A CE credits will still have lot of value to your career growth. However, the requirement of CE credits will depend upon the policy guidelines of your country and may also be of your organization.

Why continuing education (CE)?
In today's health care environment, being a professional means more than just doing your job well. Technological advances and shifts in our nation's system of health care delivery demand that the professional radiologic technologist/imaging informatics person pursue continuing education just to keepcurrent. Continuing education gives radiologic technologists/imaging informatics person a way to maintain competency and prevent professional obsolescence. It benefits them, the patients they serve and the profession as a whole.

Since 1995, continuing education has been mandatory for radiologic technologists registered by the ARRT. The Registry defines a continuing education activity as one that is "planned, organized and administered to enhance the knowledge and skills underlying the professional performance that the technologist uses to provide services to patients, the public or the medical profession. To qualify as a CE activity, it must provide sufficient depth and scope of a subject area."

What is Category A credit?
Category A activities are those evaluated and approved by a Recognized Continuing Education Evaluation Mechanism (RCEEM). Because the ASRT is a RCEEM, any activity approved by the ASRT is awarded Category A or A+ credit. When choosing your CE activities, look for Category A or A+ approval.

What is the relation between ARRT and ASRT, SIIM and ABII?

  • The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is a credentialing organization, not a professional society. ARRT is the world’s largest organization offering credentials in medical imaging, interventional procedures, and radiation therapy. It certifies and registers technologists in a range of disciplines by overseeing and administering education, ethics, and examination requirements. Although they support the professional growth and development of our registrants, their main purpose is to assess and recognize qualified individuals in medical imaging, interventional procedures, and radiation therapy.
  • ASRT is an organization for professionals in radiologic science. Members enjoy access to CE, peer-reviewed journals, a member magazine, and discounts on products and services. ASRT is an ARRT-approved RCEEM+ for CE credits. Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) is professional organization at the nexus of medical imaging and information technologies. It seeks to spearhead research, education, and the discovery of solutions to advance imaging informatics and patient care. The interdisciplinary organization allows physicians, administrators, health information professionals, technologists, scientists, and engineers to learn from one another.
  • American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) is a non-profit organization that sponsor the Imaging Informatics Professional Certification program and awards the Imaging Informatics Professional designation to the qualified candidates. Funded by SIIM and ARR, ABII offers national certification program that defines the standards for demonstrated knowledge and competence in the medical imaging informatics.
