This Course aims at providing all of the essential skills and knowledge necessary for the successful, planning, implementation and maintenance of a PACS, or other radiology system. This program also helps prepare students for the Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) certification exam. Major topics include: a comprehensive guide to PACS Administration and Operations, DICOM and HL7, Networking, PACS architecture, and Electronic Health Records.
Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) in radiology is constantly evolving and new integration challenges are changing the way imaging services are provided. PACS management is a growing challenge for Radiology department personnel and vendors. PACS and Imaging Informatics must accommodate many different workflows including non-radiology needs.
The emergence of the Imaging Informatics profession and the PACS Administrator role is an answer to the complexity of the digital imaging environment. PACS management and healthcare informatics require specific knowledge and skills unique to this technology. This practical knowledge is delivered from experienced healthcare IT professionals who currently practice these concepts.
This course is designed for all imaging professionals who want to enter the challenging world of Imaging Informatics. RT's, hospital IT staff and personnel who are actively involved in PACS selection, planning and implementation will benefit from this course. Also current PACS Administrators and field engineers who wish to update their knowledge will benefit.

Full attendance will be required to get credits on each activity. As per ASRT instructions and guidelines, getting the credits for each activity requires you not miss more about 2 minutes of any activity. Not complying to any activity will result in credits not being awarded for that particular activity.
How do you take attendance?
As per ASRT guidelines:
At the end of the webinar series your attendance will be verified and your credits will be made available to you. You must be in full attendance for every session in order to be able to receive the approved CE credits/certificate.
Are these CE credits approved and recognized by ASRT and ARRT?
Yes, these are approved by ASRT and recognized by ARRT. In order to get the credits on each session you will have to attend each session in full.
How do I receive my CE credits?
After your attendance is reviewed and verified your certificate will be ready in 2 business days and will be available to you at your ACS account. You will be notified through an email of the same. You will be able to print your certificate.
Is it important to attend the complete course for getting CE credits?
Yes, it is.
What is ASRT?
American Society of Radiologic Technologist (ASRT) is the premier professional association of people working in medical imaging and radiation therapy.
What is the benefit of getting ASRT membership?
ASRT membership helps you advance your career, keep up with continuing education, advocate for your patients, network with colleagues and much more.
I live outside USA. Can I become ASRT member? If Yes, why and how?
Yes, members who are not registered with the ARRT and live outside the United States can become ASRT members. For more details, i.e. why and how to become International ASRT member, check here: HTTPS://WWW.ASRT.ORG/MEMBERSHIP/JOIN-ASRT/MEMBERSHIP-CATEGORIES/INTERNATIONAL
I am not a member of ASRT, so how this course or CE credits will benefit me?
If you’re not ASRT member, the ASRT approved Category A CE credits will still have lot of value to your career growth. However, the requirement of CE credits will depend upon the policy guidelines of your country and may also be of your organization.
Why continuing education (CE)?
In today's health care environment, being a professional means more than just doing your job well. Technological advances and shifts in our nation's system of health care delivery demand that the professional radiologic technologist/imaging informatics person pursue continuing education just to keepcurrent. Continuing education gives radiologic technologists/imaging informatics person a way to maintain competency and prevent professional obsolescence. It benefits them, the patients they serve and the profession as a whole.
Since 1995, continuing education has been mandatory for radiologic technologists registered by the ARRT. The Registry defines a continuing education activity as one that is "planned, organized and administered to enhance the knowledge and skills underlying the professional performance that the technologist uses to provide services to patients, the public or the medical profession. To qualify as a CE activity, it must provide sufficient depth and scope of a subject area."
What is Category A credit?
Category A activities are those evaluated and approved by a Recognized Continuing Education Evaluation Mechanism (RCEEM). Because the ASRT is a RCEEM, any activity approved by the ASRT is awarded Category A or A+ credit. When choosing your CE activities, look for Category A or A+ approval.
What is the relation between ARRT and ASRT, SIIM and ABII?
What is CIIP?
Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP), a certification from the American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII), demonstrates that an individual has mastered the necessary technical, clinical, and business skill sets to invest in quality improvement, be at the forefront of the profession, and innovate within the field of imaging informatics.
How to Become a CIIP?
Check here: HTTP://SIIM.ORG/PAGE/BECOME_CIIP
I am already CIIP certified, so how this course will benefit me?
You’ll have chance to update your knowledge and earn ASRT Approved CE Credits
How long this CIIP certification will be valid?
The CIIP is good for 10 years, where there are requirements, including taking the exam again to be recertified. Here is the web link HTTPS://WWW.ABII.ORG/DOCS/10-YEAR-CERTIFICATION-REQUIREMENTS. PDF HTTPS://WWW.ABII.ORG/MAINTAINING-CERTIFICATION.ASPX. The four options for the 10-Year Requirements include: Practice, Education, Research, and Examination. Only one of the four options must be completed during the compliance period and pre-approval by ABII of the activity selected by the diplomat is not required. CIIP started in 2007, so this year is the first group who will need to re-certify.
Is there any preparation that I need to do before attending this course?
Yes, you need to have good understanding of basics of imaging informatics, standards, etc.
Why to invest in the CIIP Certification Boot Camp?
Would this class benefit CT or MRI technologists with regards to their line of work or is it more for PACS administrators?
Since the course has ASRT Category A credits, it would count for CT, MRI, and all ARRT CE requirements. There are plans to have content specific requirements at some point, but Imaging Informatics is part of all of the ARRT credentials.
Also, Informatics is becoming a larger part of all Imaging Technologists duties, and if they have that training they will be more proficient. They will also be able to be creative with workarounds in case there is a problem and they will be a hero.
Technologist input is helpful for any system changes or upgrades, and the more they understand, the more good ideas they can contribute
Is this course ARRT recognized? Are the topics in this course searchable in ARRT search tool?
Yes. Please search the session topics in the ARRT search took here: HTTPS://APPS.ARRT.ORG/FINDCE/
I am already CIIP certified; will these credits be applicable to ABIIs continuing education requirements?
These are ASRT approved, so are applicable to ABII. Also recognized by ARRT.CIIP Credits have to be related to one of the content categories in certification. And this course has them all
