More Detail

This program is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills required to work effectively with DICOM and HL7 standards. It covers the fundamental principles, key concepts, and practical applications of these standards in healthcare settings.

The student will have chance to explore the architecture and components of DICOM and HL7 systems; learn how to integrate these standards into existing healthcare infrastructure including workflow management, interface engines, message routing, and transformation strategies; gain knowledge of DICOM image format, data elements, and metadata, discover the different types of DICOM objects and their relationships; master DICOM network communication and protocols; comprehend the HL7 messaging framework and message types; implement HL7 interfaces and message routing; explore common use cases and applications of DICOM and HL7 standards; and real-world use cases and applications will be examined, such as RIS, EHR integration, and imaging modalities integration.

Furthermore, participants will learn about best practices, implementation considerations, and security/privacy aspects related to DICOM and HL7. They will also have the opportunity to engage in hands-on exercises, case studies, and discussions to reinforce their understanding and apply the knowledge in practical scenarios.

This program also helps prepare students for the Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) certification exam.

  • Students will be able to implement and maintain a PACS system
  • Students will be able to troubleshoot DICOM and HL7 issues
  • Students will be able to integrate modalities to a PACS
  • Students will be able to integrate PACS to an EMR / EHR

This course is designed for all imaging professionals who want to enter the challenging world of Imaging Informatics. RT's, hospital IT staff and personnel who are actively involved in PACS selection, planning and implementation will benefit from this course. Also, current PACS Administrators and field engineers who wish to update their knowledge will benefit.
